Château Larcis Ducasse fließt mit dunkler, purpurroter Farbe ins Glas. Der Nase bieten sich süße Aromen von kandierter Kirsche sowie reifer, schwarzer Johannisbeere. Mit etwas Luft wird der Duft von Waldboden erkennbar. Konzentriert mit Süße kommt die Frucht mit kompakter Textur am Gaumen an. Ein außergewöhnliches Geschmackserlebnis, das noch etliche Jahre anhalten darf.

The 2008 Larcis Ducasse (14.2% natural alcohol) is composed of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc. Although closed at present and less prodigious than I predicted two years ago, it reveals an opaque purple color, plenty of sweet fruitcake, black currant, kirsch, forest floor and earthy characteristics, a full-bodied mouthfeel, sweet tannins and a long finish. It just does not appear to have the extra gear or two I tasted from barrel. Nevertheless, it is an outstanding wine and if it is priced fairly, it should be a definite purchase to enjoy over the next 20+ years.

With an unbelievable nose of licorice, tapenade, black cherry and blackcurrant liqueur, as well as full body, super-sweet tannin, and astonishing richness and length, this prodigious effort in 2005 announced the resurrection of this great terroir on the slopes near Château Pavie. Dark garnet/plum/purple, this is compelling stuff and drinkable already, but capable of lasting another 25-30 years. This beauty is not to be missed! Only 3,000 cases were produced, from a blend of 78% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon.
