2015 Barolo Bricco Boschis Cavallotto mit dichtem, gereiftem Granatrot. In der Nase reife Pflaumenfrucht, Vanille, Eichenholz und Lakritze. Im Mund zeigt sich frische Würze reifer Beeren. Ihre dichte, kräftige Struktur breitet sich am Gaumen aus. Den Abgang prägt die Eleganz dank feinkörnigem Tannin. Ein wundervolles Beispiel eines gereiften Barolo mit Entwicklungspotenzial.

Sattes, glänzendes Granatrot. Überraschend duftige Nase, nach Pfirsich und Holunderblüte, dahinter saftige Zwetschke, etwas Lakritze. Herzhaft und kernig am Gaumen, zeigt viel festes, dichtmaschiges Tannin, langer Nachhall, braucht noch Lagerung."

I had tasted this wine from barrel last year, and the wine was already shaping up beautifully back then. Staying the course, the 2015 Barolo Bricco Boschis shows extreme elegance and finesse. These are the characteristics of what is surely one of the most beautiful vineyard sites in Barolo. The Bricco Boschis cru affords a panoramic view onto much of the Langhe, with snowcapped Alps in the background. Barolo from Castiglione Falletto tends to show characteristics that are very fine, precise and linear. That's fundamentally what you get here despite the more exuberant and fleshy 2015 vintage. This wine is truly beautiful. Some 27,700 bottles were made.

Alfio Cavallotto and his family planted an additional 8,000 square meters of vines in Melera (part of the Bricco Boschis cru since 2016). These young Nebbiolo vines will make Langhe Nebbiolo wines for the next 15 years. After that time, the Cavallotto family will decide whether to include fruit from Melera into the traditional blend of fruit (currently from the micro parcels Punta Marcello and Colle Sud Ovest) that makes the beautiful Barolo Bricco Boschis. For the time being, no changes will be made to the blending configuration of the estate's flagship Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe. The next vintage of that wine, the 2013, will be released in 2020. Published: Jun 28, 2019

2013 Barolo Riserva Vigna San Giuseppe Bricco Boschis Cavallotto zeigt dichtes, leuchtendes Granatrot. Konzentriert öffnen sich Aromen roter und schwarzer Beeren, Kirschlikör, Trüffel und Lakritze. Dichte Fruchtwürze kommt im Mund an, den Gaumen überzeugt feines Tannin. Mit ihrer enormen Länge begeistert die Riserva im Finale. Ein majestätischer Barolo, dem dieser Ausnahmejahrgang Komplexität, Charakter und Ausdruck verliehen hat. Seine Top-Bewertungen hat er sich zu Recht verdient. Chapeau!!

Dunkel strahlendes Rubinrot mit leuchtendem Kern. In der Nase betont würzig nach Pfeffer, Kardamom, sehr satten Pflaumen und dunklen Herzkirschen, zögerndes Leder im Nachhall. Öffnet sich am Gaumen sehr kraftvoll, sattes, engmaschiges Tannin, viele Schichten, druckvoll und straff, baut sich lange auf, salzig."

The Cavallotto 2013 Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe feels magically cool even as the wine warms in the glass. Eucalyptus, menthol and medicinal herbs rise from the bouquet, with dark fruit and savory spice in tow. When you first open the bottle, it shows a distinct mineral character with crushed aspirin, limestone and graphite. I opened a second bottle a few days before this tasting and had both bottles side by side to compare. Both showed impressive results with a pristine level of focus, sharpness and linearity. With aeration, those dark fruit nuances come to the forefront, showing dried cherry, plum and candied orange peel. A few hours later, you pick up on leather, tobacco and cedar wood. This is a fluid and ever-changing wine that is well worth adding to your cellar selection. What a beauty. Published: Jul 23, 2020
